Some New York Native American casinos only offer Class II gambling, which consist of electronic gaming machines which look like slot machines. These machines are, in reality, games of bingo, and the spinning video reels are for entertainment purposes only. New York state gaming laws do not require Native American Casinos to make payback percentages on any gaming machines a matter of public information.
Pari-Mutuel Casinos
In late 2001, New York passed a law to allow for the introduction of slot machine style video lottery gaming machines at racetracks. These machines are officially referred to as 'Video Gaming Machines' (VGM's). These VGM's are regulated by New York's State Lottery Division.
VGM's all offer standard slot machine-type games, and keno that is played from five cents to $10.
VGM's do not operate like regular slot machines. They are similar to a scratch-off-type lottery tickets, with a pre-determined number of winners.
